Liatris pycnostachya
A native of the prairies, blazing star is a favourite of butterflies, birds and bees. The long lasting, showy, purple-magenta spikes bloom in midsummer and grown up to 1.5 metres tall (2-5 feet). Blazing star grows in average to moist soils, and requires little maintenance. It is not only a stunning addition to a wildflower garden, but also makes a wonderful dried or fresh-cup flower.
